Colorado Mesa University scored a major coup for its fall sports program, at least on the national level. The Mavericks have debuted at No. 4 in the Division II Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings.

The NACDA Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup is an award given annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics to U.S. colleges and universities with the most success in collegiate athletics.

Points for the Directors’ Cup are based on order of finish in various NCAA sponsored championships or media-based polls.

Colorado Mesa currently has 255 points, which is a half point behind No. 3 Colorado Mines. CMU’s points came from finishing third in men’s soccer, ninth in women’s volleyball, 18TH in men’s cross country, and 22ND in women’s cross country.

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference leads all conferences with three schools in the top 10. In addition to Colorado Mesa and Colorado Mines, Adams State came in at No. 10.
