An officer-involved shooting left one person injured Thursday evening in Grand Junction.

It All Started At Rocket Park

The incident started at around 6:00pm Thursday at Rocket Park on 26th Street and Orchard Avenue. Grand Junction police were responding to a report of a wanted subject in the area. The 44-yar-old male had an active no-bond warrant for his arrest for misdemeanor domestic violence and a protection order violation.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, when officers contacted the man there was an altercation and the man took off in a black Mazda. During the fight, two officers were injured. One was treated at the scene and the other was taken to the hospital and later released.

Suspect Located At Sportsman's Warehouse

Meanwhile, a short time later, police were able to locate the suspect in the parking lot of Sportsman's Warehouse on Highway 6 & 50. Details of the confrontation have not been released but that's when the officer-involved shooting occurred. No officers were injured in the incident, but, the suspect was injured and taken to the hospital via ambulance. Police reportedly administered medical aid until paramedics arrived. There is no official word on the extent of the man's injuries.

The Investigation Continues

The incident caused Sportsman's Warehouse as well as the parking lot as police conducted their investigation. That investigation will be continuing over the next few days as the Critical Response Team conducts interviews of witnesses and the people involved. The release from the sheriff's office noted the information they released was preliminary and subject to change.
