The CMU women's basketball team were up against a formidable challenger in the South Central Regional Final, Monday (March 18), facing the Midwestern State University Mustangs. the Mavericks were down by eight at more than once during the first half but managed to tie the score 31-31 by halftime.The second half proved to be as much of a challenge as the the first for the Mavericks, especially from three-point range, where the Mavericks were only 2 for 18 on the night. The score stayed close through much of the second half but the Mavericks held on to win the game 69-65. The final three points for the Mavericks came from the free throw line where they scored 21 of 25 times for the night.

Kelsey Sigl was the high scorer with 24 points and was also selected as the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Katrina Selsor was named to the All Tournament Team. Bruna Deichmann also had an outstanding game scoring a career high 21 points.

The Mavericks head to San Antonio, Texas on March 26 for the 2013 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championships where they will face Dowling College. The game can be heard on 1230 KEXO and KEXO1230.com with tip-off scheduled for 1:30 p.m. MDT.
