CMU Holding Virtual Commencement for Class of 2020
This is the type of news that no one wants to hear but unfortunately, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Colorado Mesa University has announced they will be holding a virtual commencement on May 16th. There will also be an in-person ceremony on August 1, 2020. Each graduating student will get to choose which ceremony they want to attend.
CMU is committed to upholding this momentous event because commencement is one of the most honored traditions of the university. Commencement symbolizes a major milestone for those who participate, and is a moment of celebration for the family and friends who observe. Because of this significance, CMU has thoroughly assessed how to create options for graduates that sustain what is meaningful about the ceremony while protecting the community from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This is obviously a difficult decision for the facility to make, they want the class of 2020 to have the same fun celebration that all other classes have been able to enjoy. It's a horrible way to wrap up such a tremendous academic accomplishment. To the CMU class of 2020, I'm truly sorry that this is how your time at CMU will end. But be proud of all that you have accomplished and know that you will do great things with the things you learned. Good luck in all your future endeavors, Go Mavs.
