Grand Junction’s Third Shooting Incident In Four Days Leaves One Person Dead
Detectives with the Grand Junction Police Department have been busy in recent days investigating three separate shooting incidents - two of them on Horizon Drive.
One Person Killed in Horizon Drive Shooting
Saturday night, a man was shot and killed at a hotel on Horizon Drive. According to the Grand Junction Police Department, officers were called to the scene in the 700 block of Horizon Drive after receiving a report of a suspicious death. When officers arrived, they found a deceased male with apparent gunshot wounds. Two adult males were arrested in connection with the incident, and the incident is being investigated as a homicide.
The shooting Saturday night was the third incident in four days involving gun violence in Grand Junction. The GJP says officers and detectives have been working around the clock interviewing witnesses and processing evidence.
Another Shooting Incident On Horizon Drive
Earlier on Saturday, police had been called to the 700 block of Horizon Drive after somebody reported hearing multiple gunshots. When police arrived, they were informed that a man had gone to the hospital in a personal vehicle with a gunshot wound. The extent of the injuries was not reported.
Shots Fired, No Injuries or Arrests
The first shooting of the week happened Wednesday evening in the 300 block of Fairview Avenue, which stretches between Riverside Parkway and the Colorado River. Several people reported hearing gunshots in the area. Six people were detained for questioning, but all were released, and no injuries were reported in what police are calling an isolated incident.
