Authorities have determined that an Aurora, Colorado woman was the leader of an international drug ring that ran throughout the West.

According to a press release from the United States Department of Justice,  Candelaria Vallejo-Gallo, age 43, is responsible for the transportation of several illegal drugs such as methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, and heroin for her operations as a "Kingpin" or in her case, "Queenpin."

What is A Drugpin in Colorado?

To be considered as a drug Kingpin in Colorado, the individual must violate the Controlled Substances Act according to the United States Department of Justice.  In addition, the individual must also manage or supervise 5 other individuals, "connected in the same activity, and obtain substantial income or resources from the series of violations."

Who is the Queen of the West, Candelaria Vallejo-Gallo?

Candelaria Vallejo-Gallo is a Mexican national who led a Continuing Criminal Enterprise (CCE) from at least March 2019 through February 2020.

Vallejo-Gallo oversaw the transportation and distribution of large amounts of illegal drugs, and operated, " a network of interstate load transporters, local runners, multi-pound drug customers, and lieutenants to carry out the conspiracy."

The Queen pin is said to have used intimidation and fear to control her soldiers by threatening those who might be disloyal and during a recorded phone call, she expressed her desire to kill her rivals.

Sentence Time for Candelaria Vallejo-Gallo

Candelaria Vallejo-Gallo was sentenced to 23 years in federal prison. Vallejo-Gallo is charged for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, and heroin. She was also sentenced to 20 years in prison for conspiracy to commit money laundering. Both sentences will be served concurrently.
