White Smoke Adds to Colors of Western Colorado’s Color Sunday
Western Colorado's color weekend was a little more colorful than usual a white smoke filled the air above Palisade Sunday afternoon.
Anyone looking toward the Grand Mesa Sunday afternoon might have been concerned at the sight of a good amount of smoke billowing into the air. In fact, it was just a prescribed burn by the Bureau of Land Management.
According to KREX TV, a total of 175 acres was planned to be burned to help reduce the chances of a large fire in the watershed area.
Things have gotten pretty dry in Western Colorado as temperatures have remained well above normal, resulting in on-going fire danger. Fortunately, Sunday's smoke was all in the name of fire prevention.
