This weekend is definitely a busy weekend with all the scheduled events in the area. Here’s a look at what’s coming up this weekend:

Thursday, August 22

  • Downtown Farmers Market from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Main Street in Grand Junction
  • Grand Junction Rockies will host the Missoula Osprey at 7:05 p.m. at Suplizio Field in Grand Junction

Friday, August 23

  • First day of ROCK JAM, a 2-day music festival taking place in Mack, Colorado (Loma exit on I-70). Gates open at 2:00 p.m. Performances are as follows: 2:15 p.m. – Pop Evil; 3:30 p.m. – Fuel; 5:00 p.m. – Sevendust; 7:30 p.m. – Seether; 10:00 p.m. – Three Days Grace
  • Glade Park Movies Under the Stars will feature the PG-13 movie “Real Steel” starring Hugh Jackman. The event takes place at the Glade Park Fire Department just west of the Glade Park Store on DS Road. Concession stand opens at 5:30 p.m., grill opens at 6:00 p.m., live entertainment starts at 7:00 p.m., and movie begins at dusk.
  • The John McConnell Math & Science Center will have its annual fundraising dinner at 7:00 p.m. at Allen Unique Autos, 2285 River Road in Grand Junction. Tickets are $75 per person or $750 per table. For more information, call 254-1626.

  • Western Colorado Botanical Gardens will host its 22nd Annual Grand Valley Garden Tour from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Botanical Gardens, 641 Struthers Avenue in Grand Junction. Tours will feature designer gardens, their designers, master gardeners, musicians, and artists. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the Botanical Gardens or at any City Market.   • KCW and Madson Racing will present the Foreign Aid VW Mania at Western Colorado Dragway, 115 32 Road in Grand Junction. The event is a quarter mile drag race for all VW powered vehicles. The screening is open to the public, and tickets are available at Sportsman’s Warehouse.
  • Western Colorado Botanical Gardens will present Stray Grass in concert as part of the Garden Groove Summer Concert Series.
