Take a Drive on Colorado’s Scenic Byways
Colorado offers hundreds of miles of Scenic Byways, these are a few of my favorites.
If you're thinking about loading up the family and taking a drive but you're not sure where then try one (or more) of these.
65 miles of some amazing scenery that will take you through Silverton, Lake City, and Ouray. This is one for the four-wheel drive enthusiasts, as cruising in the family car won't get you far. A beautiful and historic drive.
Well, first of all, that name is cool. Head out to north to Rangely and, just south of it, find Canyon Pintado and look at thousands of years of petroglyphs and pictographs. While you're there, check out the Rangely Museum as well.
I love this place. Every bit of it. From getting off I-70 and starting your way up to stopping along the way for some amazing views, this is my absolute favorite drive. If you haven't driven the Mesa yet, get to it!
Welcome to North America's highest paved road. It's only 14,130 feet up and along the way views unmatched anywhere. This was the very first thing I did when I came to Colorado and I have been back many times since. It gets me the same way each time. It takes your breath away.
