This has to be one of the sweetest events of the year. The annual Honey Bee Festival is coming to Palisade.

This is the eight year for the annual festival which promotes the importance of honey bees to our local area.

The event starts on Friday (April 8) from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a reception at Blue Pig Gallery. Delicious appetizers and honey wine from the Meadery will be served.

Attendees will also have the chance to see art featuring bees, birds and blooms as well as art created using bees wax.

A representative form the Palisade Insectary will also showcase bees and other beneficial insects and how important these insects are to our area.

Saturday, the festival starts at 11:00 a.m. with a street fair featuring plenty of vendors and activities for the entire family.

There will be a spelling bee, a bee costume contest and arts and crafts for the kids as well as a wide variety of food available.

One of the highlights will be Susan Metzger's demonstration of batik, using bees wax and dyes to create beautiful works of art. Paintings by Bud Markos will also be on display.
