It's the perfect combination - kids, dinosaurs, and candy.

There are plenty of great Halloween events for kids in the Grand Valley, but there is one event that moms and dads need to make sure to include in their plans.

Monster Mash has been happening every year for so long, we have kids who attended the early days of Monster Mash now bringing their kids to this great trick-or-treat stop.

Dinosaur Journey in Fruita is the site of Monster Mash from 4pm-7pm on Halloween night. The museum offers free admission which gives kids of all ages - and their parents - a chance to experience the dinosaurs before enjoying some candy treats and warm apple cider on the way out.

Parents love this event for lots of reasons. For one thing, it's absolutely free, and free is always good.

Monster Mash is safe. Parents are there with their kids and there's no reason to worry about what might be happening to them out on the street. Seeing the dinosaurs can take as little as 10 minutes or as long as an hour, it's really just up to you and the kids.

Monster Mash is great fun - but it's also educational - though the kids may not realize it. Kids can learn a little about prehistoric times and add to their candy collection at the same time.

Plus, there's always local radio personalities lurking about in disguise handing out candy and filling up cups with fruit punch and apple cider.

The dinosaurs may be a little stiff, but they don't seem to mind a little Halloween chaos and lots of visitors. If Monster Mash isn't on your Halloween night schedule, it ought to be.
