This Thursday is a BIG day for the Mesa County Central Library. That’s the day when the library will officially re-open its main location at 5TH Street and Grand Avenue in Grand Junction.

For the last few months, the main building for the Mesa County Central Library has undergone a major remodeling project. Now that the remodeling is done and everything has been moved back in from the temporary 1ST Street location, the Central Library will have an all-day grand re-opening all day Thursday.

Some of the events scheduled for Thursday include handing out balloons to kids at 10:00 a.m., a senior welcome at 3:00 p.m., a rededication ceremony at 4:00 p.m., and an artists’ meet and greet at 6:00 p.m.

The Central Library will be open Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for regular library business.

The library’s remodeling project has added approximately 9,000 square feet of space to the building and has improved the existing facility from top to bottom.

Features for the newly remodeled library include more natural light inside, a new fiction area, a new Regional History Room, a large community room for programs and events, several new small-group study rooms, outdoor patios for adults and children, and a creation studio for audio and video production.
