Jack To Run In Heels For Grand Junction’s Latimer House
Today is the day I know hundreds have been waiting for. The Men In Heels Race returns to Grand Junction, and I for one am looking forward to it.
Honestly, it's not every day you get to run in heels in public, right? Oh sure, women do it all the time, but as a man, I wear flat shoes all the time, so putting on heels will, at the very least, look hilarious.
But I am serious about this race. I have been training for hours. And I am sure that when that starters pistol (or whatever they use) goes off, I will be out of the blocks and flat on my face. At least that's what happened the last time I tried this. But this time, I am ready.
Townsquare Media has a team that is unmatched in athleticism and that care free attitude one needs to have when stepping outside your comfort zone. In heels. In public. To race other men. In heels. In public.
It will undoubtedly be one of the more fun evenings for those of you coming down to lend support. And for those of us running, all kidding aside, it will be an exceptional evening because for one, this is going to raise money for the Latimer House, and for another, we don't have to wear a matching ensemble. I mean shoes, ok. But no purses, evening gowns or tiaras, ok?
We will see you downtown, cheering us all on and laughing. But that's what fun is supposed to be about. And don't forget why we do this.
Latimer House helps those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault move from crisis to confidence. And they need your support.
Me? I could use arch supports, and maybe some training wheels.
See you out there!
