Haunted Houses Among Weekend Events October 18-20
Even though Halloween is still two weeks away, various Halloween-related events are continuing to rise in number. But there are also other events that are going this weekend as well. Here's what to expect this weekend:

Book Signing and Sculpture Unveiling
Mesa County Services Building, 2nd & Spruce in Grand JunctionThe City of Grand Junction, Mesa County, the Museum of Western Colorado, Colorado Mesa University and the Mesa County Historical Society is sponsoring the event. The event is to help celebrate the publication of the local history book “The History of City Market, The Brothers Four and the Back Slope Empire.” The event will begin with a statue unveiling of the Prinster Brothers (the original four brothers who founded City Market in 1924), followed by a reception and book signing.

Hallow Screams Haunted House

Palisade Recreation Department is hosting a Murder Mystery for high school students (grades 9 through 12). Cost is $12, which includes admission and dinner.

Grand Valley Blend

The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra is presenting Grand Valley Blend as part of its Chateau Chamber Concert Series. Tickets are $25.

The Altius String Quartet

The Western Slope Concert Series is presenting The Altius String Quartet in concert. Tickets are $12 at the door.

66th Annual Gem and Mineral Show

The Grand Junction Gem and Mineral Club is hosting its 66th annual Gem and Mineral Show. Displays and demonstrations are among the activities scheduled throughout the weekend, as well as a silent auction every 30 minutes. Cost is $3 for adults, $1 for students (ages 12 to 18) with student ID, and children ages 11 and under are free with adult.

Fall Day on the Farm

Activities include historic demonstrations, apple cider pressing, hay rides, model trains, quilting, weaving, bee keeping, antique cars, and more.

Rolln on the River
Western Colorado Botanical Gardens, 641 Struthers Avenue in Grand JunctionStrive Colorado is hosting “Rolln on the River.” This event involves a family fun 5K run and 3K walk/roll event, followed by lunch and live entertainment.

Denver Browns Baseball Youth Clinic
Grand Mesa Little League Park, 518 28 3/4 Road in Grand JunctionDenver Browns founder and pitcher Gino Grasso will put on this baseball youth clinic. All ages are welcome, and cost is $25 per player.

Toothpick Airforce

The Museum of Western Colorado is sponsoring “The Toothpick Airforce.” The event is designed for ages 10 to 12 years. Activities include a workshop on the history of “Toothpick Airforce,” as well as a building construction session. Cost is $40 per person, which includes all supplies.

Spaghetti fundraiser

A fundraiser for area resident Jane Newton. Activities include a meet and greet, spaghetti dinner, silent auction, and live music. Proceeds from the evening will go towards purchasing a wheelchair accessible van for Jane Newton. The event is sponsored by Black Canyon Posse Inc., Center for Independence, Western Equality, Mesa County Physicians, Complete Party Resources, Brown’s Cycles, and Serenity Salon and Spa. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for children ages 4 to 10 years, and children 3 years and younger are free.
