Grand Junction’s Lincoln Park Pool To Extend Swim Season
Not that you necessarily want to go swimming right now, but, for future reference, Grand Junction's Lincoln Park Pool is expected to stay open through September.
You can thank the current bout of extremely hot weather for the planned extension of the swim season in Grand Junction. Normally, the pool would be preparing to close Labor Day weekend, but, this has been one wonky year where it seems nothing is normal.
Due to the pandemic, the Lincoln Park Pool opened a month later than normal and has had to implement stringent capacity and social distancing restrictions. Still, the pool has provided some welcomed relief during the extended heatwave and drought in western Colorado this summer.
While things are subject to change, Larry Manchester, from Grand Junction Parks and Rec told us they plan to keep the pool open through the last weekend of September and then transition to the opening of the Orchard Mesa Pool for fall and winter swimming.
You've got to believe Grand Junction's air quality will start to see dramatic improvement in the coming days and people will actually want to engage in outdoor activities like swimming. Nonetheless, I just wanted to let you know it does appear as though Grand Junction will be enjoying an extended swim season this year. There is still plenty of time to enjoy the water.
