Clifton Library Gets Massive Upgrade

The library at Clifton Elementary School was completely renovated and the final product was unveiled to students, faculty, and community members with roaring applause earlier this week.

The school set out to raise $65,000 to pay for much-needed renovations to the school's library back in October and ended up surpassing that goal by over $2000.

Clifton Elementary's Assistant Principal Stephanie Williams gave a speech at the unveiling ceremony where she spoke about how the facelift given to the library will benefit the young students at the school:

Lifelong literacy and technology journey can begin with a small, but exciting step for students to experience the thrill of getting lost in a story. The power of expressing their own ideas in writing, or the excitement of creating their very first 3-D project.

The money was raised by a few different sources, including local businesses, individual donors, and Academy Mortgage. In fact, Angela Christensen, Executive Director for the District 51 Foundation credits much of the ability to renovate the library to the mortgage company:

Clifton Elementary certainly presented the need of their library being renovated, but it was really spearheaded by Academy Mortgage.

Academy Mortgage donated $10,000 to the project from local branches, then urged their Salt Lake City corporate office to match that amount, which they did.

Following her speech, Christensen described how special it was to receive so much support from all those involved, saying, "We have just been thrilled at the outpouring of support we have seen throughout the entire community."
