Clifton Gas Station Robbed, Suspect Nabbed
An early morning robbery at a Clifton gas station resulted in the arrest of a Grand Junction man.
Just before 1:00 am Monday, police were called to the scene of what appeared to be a robbery in progress at the Circle K convenience store at the corner of 32 Road and E Road in Clifton. An eyewitness reported a masked man inside the store with a rifle appearing to rob the store.
When a sheriff's deputy arrived, he observed the suspect getting into a Jeep Wrangler. According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, a pursuit ensued until the suspect's vehicle ultimately crashed in the 400 block of Appaloosa Lane. The suspect fled on foot and was located near a canal where he resisted arrest before being taken into custody.
Although not specified exactly by the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, evidence related to the robbery was recovered and 27-year-old Terrance Chatman, of Grand Junction, was arrested. Charges against Chatman include:

* Felony Menacing
* Possession of a defaced firearm
* Vehicular Eluding
* Resisting Arrest
* Violation of a Restraining Order
* Obstruction of Telephone Service
* Possessions of Weapons by Previous Offenders
* 1st Degree Motor Vehicle Theft
Chatman was taken to St. Mary's Hospital and then transferred to the detention facility after receiving medical clearance.
