A brand new community hall is being planned for the town of Clifton as well as other western Colorado communities.

Public Meeting Reveals Project Plans

A public meeting was held Thursday evening to allow Mesa County commissioners the opportunity to provide information on the project that could break ground as early as next spring. The commissioners were also hoping to get input on what should go inside the building. The community hall would include a library, early childhood education center, a community garden, and event space that could host things like job fairs and health clinics.

Land to Be Purchased Next to Elementary School

According to a KKCO report,  Mesa County would purchase a grass field from Mesa County Valley School District 51 where the new facility would be built. The proposed location for the new facility is a 20-acre plot of land on D 1/2 Road next to Rocky Mountain Elementary School. The county would fund most of the $15-$20 million project with some of the funds coming from grants.

More Community Halls Projects Planned in the County

The Clifton Community Hall project is just one of several similar projects planned for small Mesa County communities. The plan is to put similar facilities in the towns of Whitewater, De Beque, and Loma.

The community hall project should be a welcomed addition to the Clifton landscape, which has nothing like this to offer its residents. Only time will tell exactly what the new community hall will look like and what types of amenities it will offer, but it should be a positive step forward for the community.
