The former home of convicted killer Christopher Watts will go up for public auction in Weld County next month, according to Saja Hindi of The Greeley Tribune.

The auction announcement comes one year after Watts murdered his wife Shanann and his daughters Bella and Celeste on August 13th, 2018.

Watts killed Shanann inside the home, then smothered his daughters in a nearby oil field later that day.

The five-bedroom, four-bathroom house is located at 2825 Saratoga Trail in Frederick, Colorado and was built in 2013. It will go up for auction at 10 a.m. on September 18th in Greeley.

The residence is currently abandoned, with stuffed animals, flowers, and balloons resting on the property to commemorate the one-year anniversary of their deaths.

The home's lender, JPMorgan Chase Bank, has 12 months to sell the property, as it went into default in September. Weld County Public Trustee Suzie Velasquez says she has not received any inquiries from possible buyers.

Many neighbors in the area are concerned about their property values declining due to the stigma surrounding the house, according to The Denver Post. Others are hoping the residence will be torn down and turned into a memorial for Shanann, Bella, and Celeste.

If the house goes into bankruptcy, the time to sell will be extended.
