The Palisade Plunge Trail will connect the Grand Mesa to Palisade to the Colorado Riverfront Trail. Here's how you can help build the Palisade Plunge Trail.

Construction on the Palisade Plunge Trail officially began on July 24. This new trail in the Grand Valley will be 32 miles long and take you from the Colorado Riverfront Trail to Palisade, to the Grand Mesa.

The elevation on the trail will go from around 4,000 feet all the way up to over 10,000 feet. The Palisade Plunge isn't finished yet, but you can help get a little finishing the trail. According to the Colorado Platea Mountain Bike Trail Association's Facebook volunteers are needed on these dates:

  • September 12th + September 13th
  • September 26th + September 27th

Obviously September 12-13 has passed, but volunteers are still needed for September 26-27. According to the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association's Facebook, 18 volunteers are needed that day, and here's what you need to do to help build the Palisade Plunge Trail:

  • RSVP ahead of time here
  • Show up at the Palisade Rim Trailhead at 9 a.m.
  • Bring gloves, a hat, sunscreen, lunch and snacks and a face mask

The Colorado Plateau Bike Trail Association is also looking for businesses to sponsor their work days and provide food and drinks. Phase 1 is nearly complete and Phase 2 is already underway. Phase 1 included the lower half of the route and phase 2 is the upper half.

It will be exciting to take the Palisade Plunge from the Palisade Rim Trail for 32 miles all the way up to Lands End on the Grand Mesa. The goal is to complete the Palisade Plunge by the end of the year, according to the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association.
