Senior Law Day happens June 17 in Grand Junction and should be of prime importance to  many in the Grand Valley.

The older we get it seems like life gets more complicated because of legal questions and issues that come with advancing age. And, the fact is, we are all moving that direction - it's just that some are closer to retirement than others. According to the U.S. Census, more than 25% of Grand Junction's population is age 55 or older.

It doesn't have to be complicated, and there are answers to your questions.

Senior Law Day, presented by the Mesa County Department of  Human Services is designed for those people who are in or may be fast approaching their senior years to educate them on a number of critical legal matters. This daylong event will include presentations, vendor booths, lunch, a keynote speaker and door prizes.

Topics covered include:

  • Grand Parents Rights
  • Bankruptcy
  • POA's/Living Will
  • Medicaid Planning
  • Reverse Mortgages
  • Veterans Benefits
  • Long Term Care Insurance/Annuities
  • Medicare 101

The better educated we are about these things the better decisions we can make about critical issues in our "golden years."  The longer  you wait to deal with some of these things the greater the likelihood of making uninformed and potentially costly decisions.

Senior Law Day 2016 is being held June 17 8AM-4PM at Two Rivers Convention Center. The cost is just $5 per person, but you need to get pre-registered.
