There are many things in life that I don't understand. Some of those things keep me awake at night, while others don't. Here's one that doesn't keep me awake, but it does make me wonder. I wonder why people return missed calls, especially from people they don't even know. There is certainly nothing wrong with the practice, but still I wonder why they do it.

Perhaps you are like me. When you see a missed call on your phone you figure if it was vital, the caller would leave a message, or they would keep trying.

By the same token, if I call you and don't leave a message, and don't try to reach you again, the chances are  the reason I needed to talk to you is past and there really is no reason to call me back. But, thanks anyway.

The other thing that I really don't get is when people return a missed call from a number they are not familiar with. Again, i ask, "why?"  I would think that if the person, who's number you aren't familiar with really needs to talk to you they will call back or at least leave a message.

It is possible that it was a wrong number - and they realized it when they got your voice mail. It also could be a telemarketer, or some junk call from your loan company reminding you that you mortgage payment is due next week.Uh, no, not calling our back. Sorry.

There are three missed phone calls I will return - my wife, my brother, and the person  I had asked to call me, or who's phone call I was expecting. Other than that, forget it.

So what about you? Do you return missed phone calls? Take our poll below and let's find out how many people out there return those missed calls.
