The annual tree lighting in downtown Grand Junction is Friday evening, and promises great family fun. For many people, the tree lighting is an annual tradition, and it certainly is for KOOL 107.9. Wells Fargo Bank at the corner of 4th and Main is host to this holiday event featuring LIVE entertainment, goodies, the lighting of the tree, and Santa Claus. KOOL 107.9 will be broadcasting live on location from 4pm until 7pm.

The entertainment begins at 5:00pm, with a special Christmas show by the Tonettes. These gals in their 1940s style will delight children and adults.

Typically, Santa arrives around 5:45 to light the tree and all of the lights in downtown Grand Junction - and the lights this year are going to be fabulous! There are more lights this year, and the Grand Junction Parks department has been hard at work getting all the lights put up. KKCO 11 News will be on location to broadcast the lighting of the tree, so if you can't make it down, be sure and tune in to KKCO's 5:30 newscast.

Following the lighting of the tree Santa will come down off the roof, aided by the Grand Junction Fire Department and then will visit with the children. There will be some treats for all of the good little boys and girls who wait patiently for their chance to talk to Santa.

The tree lighting is a perfect time to come downtown and browse the stores and maybe even have dinner. It'a  a great time for families and for all ages.  Hope to see you there!
