It has been a phenomenal concert season at Hudson Gardens. From .38 Special, Little River Band, Kenny Loggins, Pat Benatar and Foreigner among the acts, it's kind of sad to see summer end. But, there is one more unforgettable concert coming up on Sunday August 25th when Three Dog Night hits the outdoor stage at the Hudson Gardens Event Center.

It's amazing that these guys continue to travel and perform at an extremely high level. Original founding members Cory Wells and Danny Hutton are both 71, but you would never know it by the way they perform. In the early days of Three Dog Night it was clearly evident that they were incredible singers, and after all these years they still are.

Yes, Chuck Negron has long been gone from the band that tore up the charts in the early to mid 1970s, but, honestly,  you barely notice it when  you see Three Dog Night in concert. Negron did a lot of lead vocals, but so did Wells and Hutton. When you see this band in concert, it sounds as close to the original band as it possibly could.

You add in keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon and guitarist Mike Allsup, and  you have four original members of a band that belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Although the group dissolved in 1977, they reconstructed themselves in the early 80s and have been going strong ever since.

If you are a Three Dog Night fan,  you owe it to yourself to see this band in concert while you can.  You know most, if not all the songs they do from Joy To the World, An Old Fashioned Love Song,  Mama Told Me Not to Come, and countless others. As with any band, and aging musicians,  you always wonder exactly how long they will keep it together. As they say, all good things must end.

You can register for your chance to win Three Dog Night tickets from KOOL 107.9, and for ticket and concert venue information check out the Hudson Gardens website.

With any luck you will hear them do  the accapella Prayer of the Children, showcased here in a tribute to the victims of the Sand Hook Elementary School shooting. Besides the fact that it's a touching song, it will remove any doubt that these guys are incredible singers.
