6 Things Grand Junction Buys, But Just Throws Away
There are a lot of things we buy each week, but end up throwing away.
It's Not Just Food
It's something you probably don't think that about. It's just how life is. There are things we buy - and then just throw away because we can't get it used up before it goes bad. And, of course, this doesn't apply just to food, as you will see in the list below.
Yes, We Have Bananas
Take bananas, for example. You buy a bunch of bananas --and you need to buy them green so they will last as long as possible before turning brown and soft. Well, you might like green bananas, but I think they are disgusting. If you wait too long, they get brown and soft - and they turn to mush. Well, I guess that's okay if you want banana pudding, but that is not my idea of a good time. There is actually a small window where the time is perfectly right for eating a banana.
So, what happens, you eat bananas for a few days, and before you know it, the bananas go bad, and, yes, you have no bananas.
Asking the Question
Recently, I posed the question to Grand Junction listeners, what is something you buy every week, but end up throwing away? The responses are listed below.
We try not to be wasteful, but when there are only two of you in the household, it can be difficult to get the rate of consumption to match the amount of supply and availability. You want to buy enough to get you through the week, but not so much that you can't eat it all before it's bad.
