Mesa County is opening up, and a couple of area restaurants are making it known they are looking to hire for "all positions."

Like the one restaurant said in a Facebook post, "...we are getting busy."

Who's hiring?

Two local restaurants, one of which has a handful of locations in Western Colorado, have made it know via Facebook posts the need to add quality people to their teams. One of the restaurants would be Rib City Grill, the other Smokin' Oak Pizza.

Check out the Facebook posts.

Just yesterday, March 25, 2021, Rib City Grill posted:

Woo-hoo Mesa County is opening up and we are getting busy! Now Hiring All Positions!

Also yesterday, Smokin' Oak Wood-Fired Pizza posted the following:

We offer flexible part time or full time schedules depending on what you are looking for and the needs of the restaurant. We promote most of our managers from within and are looking for that next generation of leaders to apply now as we prepare to expand our business.

What are some of the perks?

In the case of Smokin' Oak Wood-Fired Pizza, they list some of their company's perks as:

  • Competitive hourly pay rate
  • 50% discount on meals
  • 401k Plan

What's the big picture?

In my mind, the big picture is this - local businesses are hiring. This translates to "local people can find employment."

I was living in Grand Junction in the early 1980's when the bottom fell out. You would see 75 people standing in line applying for one part-time job as a clerk at a convenience store. I don't want anyone to ever have to experience times like those. Watching Grand Junction area restaurants over the last year, they've jumped through some amazing hoops in order to stay in business. It's heartwarming to see the need to begin hiring again.

Please note, these are two examples. I spotted these this morning when I was messing around on Facebook when I was supposed to be working. There are many more opportunities to be found on the local hiring sites. Happy hunting.
