Skipper Island Fire Photos Show Why I-70 is Shut Down
The Skipper Island fire between Grand Junction and Loma is proving to be challenging for firefighters and has also necessitated the closure of I-70. Take a look at some photos and videos from the scene and you'll understand why.
The wind started blowing smoke from the fire across I-70 Thursday (April 19) afternoon making it unsafe to travel either direction.
This video shows not only the heavy smoke but also the fire as it nears the interstate.
