It may not be the most earth-shattering news of the day, but there's actually some really good news here.

The Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce has resumed ribbon-cutting celebrations for its members, which means at least a couple of things.

The first thing I want to point out is the resumption of these ribbon-cutting celebrations is another step toward getting back to normal here in Mesa County. During the course of the past year, the dominating headlines have been about events and festivals that aren't happening because of COVID-19. As we begin to see more events being scheduled, the more encouraged and optimistic everyone is.

A ribbon-cutting celebration may be news that never makes it to the newsfeed of many Mesa County residents, but the fact that these celebrations are now happening in Fruita is most happy news, largely because of the larger implications of such events.

Since we are on the subject of ribbon-cutting celebrations, I might as well go ahead and share what's been happening in Fruita with the FACC.

The chamber has welcomed new members to the chamber recently including Eric Lusby with State Farm Insurance at 2584 Patterson in Grand Junction, and Rex Homes, a real estate company offering free market analysis, home examinations, staging handyman services, and marketing assistance.  Both of these ribbon cuttings were a joint effort of the Fruita and Palisade Chambers.

The Fruita Chamber also had a ribbon-cutting for the new location of Center Town Liquors at 161 N. Park Square.

We don't fully know what 2021 looks like in light of the pandemic, but little things like the resumption of ribbon-cutting celebrations is a good indication we are moving in a good direction. Hopefully, we will be hearing of many more ribbon cuttings in the coming months across the Grand Valley.
