School is almost out and parents will be looking for things to do with the kids this summer. How about taking a hike?

There are five trails that aren't very long that you and the kids will enjoy. Let's check them out!

Redlands Loop

I like this one because you have the choice to keep going if you want to, up to five miles round trip. You can start in the Redlands on the Audubon Trail, which connects to another trail. If the kids are up for it, you can keep on going, or just turn around.

Rabbit Valley

Maybe some kids don't like to hike all that much, but if you tell them about the dinosaur bones found out here I bet they change their minds real quick!

Mica Mines

Nice, easy hike, quiet and serene and beautiful. There are even little streams for the kids to splash in. You can even bring your dog if you keep it on a leash.

Devil's Kitchen

A nice hike, especially when you pay attention to the geological formations here. Staying on the trail, though is very important because rattlesnakes have been spotted here in the past. Keeping to the trails and not harassing the wildlife are two important rules everyone should remember.

Echo Canyon

Considered a moderate trail, elevating around 500 feet, but not too difficult. Follow the trail into a box canyon that reverberates just about every sound. You know the kids will Hootie Hoo all over the place in here.

These are all fun and takes usually no more than a few hours. Remember to bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen and hats and always let someone know where you are going.

See you on the trails!
