For those wanting to get out and enjoy the great weather this weekend, here is a good, easy hike that's close to home, but not lacking in beauty.

The Little Park Hike is a nice hike for those wanting to stay close to home and not work too hard on the trail.

As you will see from the map, there are a number of different trails to follow in the area so you can make the hike as long or as short as you want to make it.

I did a 3.5-mile loop. Using the Map My Walk app, I was able to easily navigate the area, even though I had never been there. If you are a hiker you need this handy app that will keep track of your time, mileage, and even shows the path you are taking, which can be handy when trying to get back to your starting point if you are in unfamiliar territory.

Depending on the route or routes you choose, the hike is not strenuous so it is family-friendly. The views of the valley are awesome so it's a great place to pack in a picnic lunch, just be sure to pack out all of our trash. It's also a great place for people to take their dogs. Please be sure and go prepared to clean up after your pooch.

The Little Park Trailhead is located about five miles up Little Park Road. Just turn on to Monument Road off of Broadway, and then a fairly quick left on to D Road. You'll end up going right on Rosevale Road, and eventually take a right onto Little Park Road then follow it up the hill for several miles. If you get to the Bangs Canyon Trailhead, you've gone a little too far.

There are different trails you can follow, depending on how far you want to go. You can make it as short or as long as you want. When you are looking for a cool local hike, don't forget about Little Park.
