The pandemic was not about to stop the 2020 downtown car show from being a huge success.

A lot of things were working against the idea of the  Mobility Driven Downtown Car Show being anything but a monstrous flop. Consider all of these factors.

  • The car show had already been postponed from its originally scheduled date in June, and most September events in Mesa County had been canceled.
  • In order to adhere to local health guidelines, the show had to be moved from its traditional spot on Main Street to the parking lot of Grand Junction Convention Center.
  • There was room for only 80 classic cars.
  • Although the car show was free, guests had to go through the process of getting a ticket for admission either online or at the gate.

As it turned out, none of that mattered.

The weather was fantastic and couldn't have been better. The parking lot was packed full of classic, custom, and new automobiles. And more than 2500 car-show starved people, both young and old, came out to check out the wondrous cars, vote for their favorites, and enjoy some sense of normalcy in this crazy world.

Each year at the downtown car show, traditional awards handed out include the car most likely to get a speeding ticket, mayor's choice, and KOOLest car. The public for their favorite to select the people's choice and the car owners vote on their favorites to determine the best in the show.

Here is a list of the winners.
