According to a story from the Associated Press, singer Phil Everly has died at the age of 74.

Jason Everly, Phil’s son, told Associated Press that his father died Friday at a Burbank hospital of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Phil Everly was one-half of the Everly Brothers harmony duo that sparked the imaginations of rock 'n' roll singers for decades.

Everly and his brother Don had hit records that included "Wake Up Little Susie" and "Bye Bye Love."

The Everly Brothers’ career spanned five decades, although they performed separately from 1973 to 1983. In their heyday between 1957 and 1962, they had 19 top 40 hits.
