In honor of Presidents' Day, here are some odd, unusual and interesting facts about some of our US Presidents.

The holiday originally started as a day to celebrate the birthday of George Washington,  whose birthday is February 22. As part of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act in 1971, the holiday was moved to the third Monday in February. Presidents' Day is now thought of as a holiday saluting all Presidents, not just George Washington.

Other Presidents born in February include Abraham Lincoln, William Henry Harrison and Ronald Reagan. as it turns out, Presidents' day will never fall on any of these four former President's birthdays.

  • George Washington owned a profitable whiskey distillery.
  • Gerald Ford was a young fashion model even making the cover of Cosmopolitan.
  • Warren G. Harding wore a size 14 shoe, the largest of any President.
  • Theodore Roosevelt wore a lock of Abraham Lincoln's hair during his inauguration.
  • Abraham Lincoln attended seances at the White House.
  • John Tyler had 15 children, the most of any US President.

There are also four US Presidents who have won a Nobel Peace Prize. They include Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama.
