For some people, the first week of November is way to early to start decorating for Christmas. The fact is, it feels like the Christmas season starts earlier and earlier every year. The question I would ask, "is that a bad thing."I came home from work yesterday and found that while I was away, Christmas came to my house. It looked like Christmas, it smelled like Christmas, and it even felt like Christmas. My wife had put up the Christmas tree and decorated it beautifully. I felt a verse of "Silent Night" welling up within me.

I love Christmas and I love the holiday season. I love singing and hearing Christmas songs and I love the spirit of giving. For me, it really is the most wonderful time of the year, and so the longer we have to celebrate it, the better.

I realize that we still have a major holiday to celebrate before Christmas, and it, too, is  a great holiday and we will celebrate it fully. The fact is, Thanksgiving actually goes hand in hand with the celebration of Christmas and the birth of the Christ child. And so, if you are one that wants to get into the Christmas spirit in early November, I say go right ahead if it makes you happy.

By the way, the Christmas shopping season begins early in downtown Grand Junction with the annual tree lighting at Fourth and Main on Friday, November 15th. I plan to be well into the Christmas spirit by then.
