For a long time I have believed that everything is better with bacon. Now the very foundation of that long-held belief has been shaken to it's core.

I love bacon. I love bacon and eggs, bacon with pancakes or waffles, bacon in green beans and baked beans, bacon on a burger, bacon bits on a salad, even bacon on a pizza.  But I don't think I'm ready for bacon on a donut.

Now, don't get me wrong. I love having something sweet and salty together - but not at the same time. A salty piece of bacon is great to go along with the sweet maple syrup on a crisp waffle. But I would never think of putting the bacon on the waffle. So why would I think that bacon on a donut is okay?

I encountered this travesty in our station break room - a box full of maple bars topped with pig meat. How could two things that I love so deeply, suddenly appear so completely revolting?

Fortunately, I was able to battle through the conflict in my mind and I snatched one of those maple bars. I proceeded to pry the slice of bacon from the top of the bar and promptly devoured it - even though it contained remnants of maple frosting.  Then, and only then, was I able to consume and enjoy the maple bar the way that God intended it - free from meat and free from fruit.

I once  thought that everything was better with bacon, and now I know the truth. Almost everything is better with bacon.
