Just a reminder for anyone planning to celebrate Halloween this weekend – Colorado law enforcement agencies are increasing DUI enforcement during the Halloween weekend.

The Colorado Department of Transportation, the Colorado State Patrol, and local police agencies will increase patrols searching for drivers under the influence this weekend. The heightened alert will continue through Monday.

According to a report from the Associated Press, last year’s Halloween enforcement resulted in 427 DUI arrests. Most of those arrests were reported in Aurora, Denver and Colorado Springs areas.

The Associated Press also reports that a DUI can cost more than $10,000, and impaired drivers can face jail time, the loss of driver’s license, higher insurance rates, fines and court costs.
