Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra ‘An Evening Under the Stars’ to Feature Something New
The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra's 'An Evening Under the Stars' concert on Saturday (August 27) will feature things attendees have come to love over the years and some exciting new things, too.
The first 'new' is the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra (GJSO) Music Director. Charles Latshaw was selected to head the GJSO earlier this year taking over for retiring director Kurt Gustafson who's tenure with the symphony lasted 28 years. 'An Evening Under the Stars' will be the first official show for Latshaw.
GJSO Marketing Director Jeremy Herigstad says,
We are excited to have our new Music Director Charles Latshaw start of his tenure with this concert. We are also looking forward to holding this year's concert in a new venue."
The new venue Herigstad is talking about is Sherwood Park. While the venue is new, hungry concertgoers will find comfort knowing the longest ongoing fundraiser, 'Brats in the Park' hosted by the Grand Junction Symphony Guild, will be held again beginning at 5:30 p.m.
There will also be a Grande River Vineyard and Talbott's Cider Co. wine and hard cider garden and a trailer filled with Enstrom ice cream.
Music begins at 6:30 p.m. with the Grand Junction Centennial Band followed by the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra.
