It's impossible to please all the people all the time.

Grand Junction is known for hot, dry summers and relatively mild winters. We typically don't see a lot of triple-digit heat, and rarely get down to 0. I think it's one of the reasons why Grand Junction is a popular place to live. However, the fact is, some like it hot and some like it cold.

Even though I was born and raised in Colorado, I'm a warm-weather kind of guy and that's not a big secret. Being cold is just uncomfortable. There's no other way to say it. Still, I understand people who prefer the cold to the heat.

So while western Colorado "enjoys" its annual streak of 90+ degree weather I was curious to know how folks in the Grand Valley are dealing with the heat. I asked the question on Facebook, "If it had to be one or the other, would you choose the warmth of 100 or the chill of 0?"

The results of my unofficial poll were not surprising. It was pretty much split right down the middle. With a slight nod toward the heat, 18 people said they preferred 100, while 17 are happiest when it's closer to zero.

Here are some of the comments.

What I'm most thankful for  - and surprised at - is that nobody said they preferred 70 or 60. They just answered the question, if it HAD to be one or the other, which extreme would you take. Of course, most of us I'm sure would prefer to not have either extreme.

But, what we confirmed is that some do like it hot and some like it cold. Half of us are happy with the weather half the time, and half of us aren't so happy with the weather half the time. Yet, we all live happily in this wonderful Grand Valley together.
