The Grand Junction Police Department is looking to make night life in Grand Junction safer.

The Safe Bars program is designed to help reduce the number of police calls to local bars and night clubs. According to the Grand Junction Police Department, the presentation they are giving is geared toward liquor venue owners, managers, and other staff members with an interest in the quality of the establishment.

During a half day of training, topics will be covered including crime prevention and security, liquor license laws and City ordinances, and drug recognition. The presentation is Monday, March 28 from NOON -5:00PM at the Grand Junction Police Department.

Those attending will  learn about the benefits of participating in the program including receiving a free weekly report of calls for service on the property. Additionally, participating businesses can get a spot on the city website which provides a list of safe locations for visitors to the area to enjoy themselves safely during their stay.

To register for this free program, please call or email Officer David Keech, at (970)549-5336, or davidke@gjcity.org.
