One person was seriously injured Sunday morning as the result of an officer-involved shooting in Grand Junction.

The Grand Junction Police Department was called to the Maverik gas station on 29 and D Road at about 2:30 Sunday morning. They had been asked to help remove an adult individual from the gas station.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, during contact with the individual-a  shooting occurred. The individual was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.

The on-site investigation wrapped up at 11:15 Sunday morning and the investigation into the shooting is continuing. Members of the Critical Incident Response Team will be interviewing eye witnesses and individuals involved in the case. Additional details will be released later and the officers involved are being placed on administrative leave as per the department's policy.
