Grand Junction Police Reveal Facebook Fraud
The Grand Junction Police Department was recently notified of a Facebook profile that claimed the person's employer was the police department. It's not, and there's even more to this deception.
The profile of the person, who goes by the name Blake Colton, shows a photo of the person and a german shepherd.
Police know Colton, if that's even his real name, not only hasn't worked for them, but they're not convinced the profile photo is actually the person who created the account.
As for the dog, at first glance you might think it might be a Grand Junction K-9 officer. A logical first impression since the man claims he works for the department.
This is a great reminder you can't believe everything you see and read on the internet, including social media. Whether the person behind the Facebook page is just a liar or using it for criminal intent, doesn't matter.
What does matter is you should learn and use the best practices of exploring the world online. If there's any doubt, even if it's just a gut feeling, go with it until you're 100% sure what you're seeing is actually true.
