Crook Lights Up His Life by Stealing a Very Bright One
Honest people go to the store and buy new fixtures or bulbs when they need to add some light to their home. Dishonest people steal big, bright important lights from someone else.
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office reports sometime between May 11 and May 19 someone tore through the fence at the Clifton water tower in the 3100 block of the I-70 Frontage Road and stole FAA Obstruction lighting.
These are no ordinary light fixtures. They're designed to withstand all kinds of weather and, when properly operating, can be seen for miles.
One can only guess what the thieves planned to do with the stolen obstruction lighting, but considering this type of lighting keep aircraft from running into the water towers and they're worth about $3,200. So, it's obvious why law enforcement is highly interested in finding the person(s) responsible.
If you have information that could help, you're asked to contact the Mesa County Sheriff's Office or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers of Mesa County at 241-7867, on their website, or using P3Tips.
If the information leads to an arrest, the person providing it will earn a cash reward of up to $1,000.
