An emergency notification went out to residents prior to the arrest of a fugitive in Clifton recently but some residents living in the area didn't receive that alert. Here's why and how to make sure you receive notifications in the future.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office and Grand Junction Police Department ask people to sign up their cell phone and email for emergency notifications. The calls automatically go to households with landlines, but users of other electronic devices need to sign up to receive those alerts.

This walkthrough shows, step-by-step, how easy it is to set up and customize the notifications you receive.

You can add, delete or change the types of alerts you get any time after you sign up to ensure you're getting the notifications you want and need.
