
3-Hour Standoff Leads to Arrest of Wanted Suspect
A Clifton man is behind bars after a three-hour standoff with police.
The Grand Junction Police Department had warrants for the arrest of Adam Phillips, 27, of Clifton, Colo. Phillips was wanted for two counts of attempted first-degree assault on a peace officer and weapon offenses.
The Grand Junction Police Department and the Mesa County Sheriff's Office Street Crimes Unit learned Phillips was living at a residence on Arrowleaf Ct. in Clifton. Local residents were alerted via reverse 911 to stay inside around 6:20 p.m.
Phillips refused to evacuate the home or make contact with authorities. Both the GJPD and MCSO SWAT teams were called in after a warrant was granted to enter the home.
Phillips was finally taken into custody by SWAT around 9:20 p.m.
