We Just Can't Seem To Agree

For years, government leaders at the state and federal levels have tried to reach an agreement on what to do with the time, and for years they have failed to reach a consensus.

This year, two time-change bills have been on the Colorado legislature's agenda. One bill seeks to keep Daylight Saving Time year-round, while the other one would keep the state in Mountain Standard Time year-round. If either of them passes, it potentially ends all of the clock changing in Colorado.

The Federal Government Holds the Keys

One obstacle to change is the law that says states can implement DST year-round only if Congress decides to allow the change. Earlier this week, the U.S. Senate passed a measure that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent in 2023. The bill now goes to the House for approval. It's not known whether or not President Joe Biden would sign the bill.
