One of the biggest disappointments of summer was the lack of 4th of July fireworks due to the extremely high fire danger and fire bans across the state.

On Independence Day, Lincoln Park is usually packed with people, many of them arriving early in the morning to claim the best spot for a day of swimming, barbeque and a great fireworks show at Suplizio Field. This year, the park wasn’t much busier than a typical summer day due to the cancellation of the city’s annual fireworks show.

Now, the City of Grand Junction is going to make up for that with a fireworks show Labor Day weekend.

According to the City of Grand Junction, the fireworks show will be on Sunday, September 2nd at 9 p.m. or at the conclusion of the Grand Junction Rockies game that night.

Yeah, it’s a little late, but why not plan a day at the park with some barbeque, swimming, baseball and yes, fireworks.
