Girl Scout Cookies will be here before you know it. As a matter of fact, Girl Scout Cookie "season" kicks off in just four days. It might be wise to do a test run with the Cookie Finder App to make sure we're all set to go.

2021 is going to be a slightly different ballgame. When the Girl Scouts put their mind to something, there's no stopping them. Then again, we do this matter of the pandemic. So, with that in mind, there are a handful of ways to go about getting your cookies.

First things first - why should you buy Girl Scout Cookies? Well, they're delicious, affordable, and benefit causes right here in the valley. According to the Girl Scouts webpage:

When you buy Girl Scout Cookies, you help sustain life-changing, girl-led programs, experiences, and learning for local Girl Scouts. You also make it possible for them to support the causes they care about most, especially in challenging times. Every year, girls decide exactly what to do with their earnings—and 100 percent of the money stays local, powering meaningful impact in your community! - girlscouts.org

Well, I'm sold. So, how do I go about getting the cookies? In years past Girl Scouts would come to the studio and sell in person. That method would be an impossibility at this time.

One method being implemented would be the drive-up cookie booths. Several booths have already been scheduled for the Grand Junction area. The Girl Scout Cookie Finder App allows you to search for cookie booths by zip code.

Using the station's zip code of 81501 the app located four drive-thru booths scheduled for the near future. These findings include:

  • Pomona Elementary North Parking Lot on Sunday, January 31, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Pomona Elementary North Parking Lot on Saturday, February 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Pomona Elementary North Parking Lot on Sunday, February 7, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Top Shot at 2454 US Hwy 6&50 on Saturday, February 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

From there, the app provides the distance to the cookie booth, as well as an interactive map.

Okay, that was good, but I want to conduct another test run. How about cookie booths someplace a little more, shall we say, rural. How about Cawker City, Kansas, the home of the world's largest ball of twine? Search results revealed four hits for cookie booths, the first being February 13 at Ray's Apple Market!

Girl Scout Cookies will be here soon. Be sure to get the app. You can find it at the App Store or on Google Play.
