As summer nears its end, planning what to do while we still have warmer weather has now become paramount in importance.

As fall returns to the Grand Valley, we need to find those few more things to do to extend our summer as long as we can, so I have a few ideas for you to get out, have fun and enjoy Grand Junction before the snow flies and the skis come out.

Voted the best wine fest in the country by USA Today, the Colorado Mountain Winefest has it all. The creative staff has put together fun and interesting events for this year's wine fest to make the event, even more, fun and interactive. This year the event runs from September 14th to the 17th.

Get on your bikes and ride! This tour takes you through the vineyards in Grand Junction, and even allows for a little tasting here and there. Open to the first 1,000 riders, this is a must if you are looking for one last fun bike ride before putting it away for the winter. Get going on your reservation, as this event takes place on September 16th.

September 22-24 brings the Fruita Fall Festival back. Over the course of the three-day event, you can visit hundreds of vendors, try hundreds of different foods and drink and party with your friends. Musical acts include Halfway to Hazard and Royal Bliss. The Fruita Rimrock Rodeo will also be holding their finals during this event at the Rimrock Rodeo Arena.

Classic cars. And, more classic cars. Everybody loves a good car show and this one always satisfies. If you like your cars with muscle, they'll be there. Into antique cars? They will be there too. They even have classic motorcycles out there. Mark September 23rd on your calendar!

Tour Of The Moon Grand Cycling Classic-Grand Junction/National Monument

During the Coors Classic Bike Race, this portion of it was one of the most popular and gorgeous. The movie American Flyers also featured it in the 80's movie classic. Truly impressive.

There are always things to do in the Grand Valley if you know where to look.
