The year 2020 has been difficult for almost everyone especially business owners as they have tried to navigate the pandemic and obstacles that come with it. There have been numerous restaurants and other businesses here in Western Colorado that have shut down for periods of time and attempt to open quickly and return to making any sort of profit.

We got some unfortunate news today as the details were posted on the You might be from Grand Junction, CO Facebook Group about Benge's Shoe Store located at 514 Main Street in Grand Junction, and the fact that they will be closing their doors for good.

The store was closed yesterday and remains closed today as employees are working to set up one final sale to get rid of all the inventory they are attempting to sell to customers. The final sale will kick off tomorrow (Wednesday, November 4th) and last until the shoes are gone. Currently, the store hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The post online was made by Sharon Mehs Lee who mentioned that her family had owned the downtown Grand Junction business for three-generations. She also mentions that beyond just shoes there will be fixtures from the store for sale as well.

The family is hoping a new owner will purchase the business and take control for generations to come, but for now, the only thing certain is that Benge's will be closing in the next few weeks. It's always sad to see a long time business close their doors.
