As a result of this year's drought, the boat ramp has been closed and motorboats have been banned from Crawford State Park for the rest of the season.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) officials say the reservoir is down 46 feet from full capacity and no longer able to handle motorized watercraft.

People who visit the area are encouraged to bring their canoes, paddleboards and kayaks and enjoy time on the water. All regulations regarding safety gear must be followed.

Fishing has been good at the reservoir with plenty of trout, catfish, and large mouth bass being caught. Anglers are reminded they can only keep one large mouth bass and it must be 18 inches or longer.

All other services at Crawford State Park are open including picnic area and campground.

As an alternative, the lake at Sweitzer State Park south of Delta is full and open for motorized boating. The park is a day use area only so camping is not allowed.
